ready, camera, action

teringat nak menulis
pasal RTM and Kementerian Penerangan
yang kini mempunyai teraju baru

(before anything, this posting
does not have any political propoganda/agenda behind it
it is merely comments on what has been happening)

nampaknya, since Menteri baru ni..
'not bad' jugak decisions yang telah di ambil

firstly,
antara yang myself really applauded
was the abolishment or rather a change
from the INFOTAINMEN to INFORIA..

teringat dulu,
semasa Menteri yang sebelumnya
launched that catchphrase
i had debated with several colleagues
on the feasibility and rightful
to use such 'bogus' word..

well now, better late than never
someone has put a stop to it..
congrats!

secondly,
pasal kurangkan filem-filem asing
i am totally behind this..

sebab, as far as i can remember,
kalau time tengahari especially
macam kita ni duduk kat negara mana tah..
drama thailand, korea, filipina, venezuela, etc..
malam pulak, rancangan omputeh.. hmmm

my view is,
better kalau ditayangkan
drama-drama bersiri milik Malaysia
seperti Drama Minggu Ini, Opah, Rumah Kedai
dan (yang ni my favourite) drama PJ Holdings
atau banyak lagi tele-movie and drama
yang boleh diulang dan ditayang
atau produce more yang baru

drama kita, acuan kita

bukan la tak boleh drama luar ni,
but, jangan la sampai 4, 5
bahasa asing satu hari..

dah la kita ini, already pening
whether nak cakap Melayu ke English
in school, workplace and at home..

contoh lain.. drama hindustan..
ingat lagi, dulu,
orang kita suka layan cerita hindustan ni
sebab ianya, hanya sekali seminggu
iaitu lepas sembahyang Jumaat, 2.30 petang, TV2..

but now, at one time kengkadang
(not sure now still ke)
hari sabtu tu, semua channel ada filem hindustan..
pening and cukup rimas..

kita ni macam takde jatidiri
jangan la takut pada kebolehan sendiri
producer tempatan tu
kalau diberi peluang
memang boleh, and dah terbukti pun
banyak filem, telemovie and drama and cukup bagus..

memang la drama luar tu..
because faktor demand and supply
but, sebagai pihak yang berkuasa untuk memastikan,
orang kita ni tak terlalu terdedah dengan budaya luar
melalui tv, filem dan mass media la yang paling penting..

hence, in short,
i am personally suporting these decisions..

thirdly,
pasal naikkan/banyakkan
penggunaan bahasa malaysia..

long over due.. seriously
bahasa kebangsaan kan bahasa malaysia
so, memang dan adalah bertepatan
sekiranya, saluran tv kebangsaan
lebih mementingkan bahasa Malaysia..

two thumbs up
again, for our jatidiri..
bahasa melambangkan bangsa

contohnya,
drama melayu pun cakap omputeh yang lebih
bayangkan, banyak drama sekarang ni
pelakon melayu, but cakap omputeh,
siap subtitle lak tu..

bukan la tidak menyokong agar masyarakat kita
mempunyai kebolehan untuk bertutur
dalam dwi or tri language..
sokong.. bagus

but, not in TV Kebangsaan..

tak pun, TV1 mesti fully BM
TV2 tu english and etc..
fair enough?

fourthly,
pasal rancangan/segmen/berita dari sabah & sarawak
not sure, sama ada sekarang ni ada lagi tak..

but, dulu.. selalu ada..
weekend or time berita utama
segmen khas seperti
'Rancangan Hiburan Dari Sabah dan Sarawak'
'Berita Sabah dan Sarawak'

huh???

apa Sabah dan Sarawak tu
bukan part of Malaysia ke?

apa salahnya if just masukkan je
as part of the berita penuh?
need not to put the Sabah and Sarawak thing..
just Berita or Rancangan Hiburan je la patutnya..

to illustrate my point
and to solve my curiousity
pernah sekali tu..
i asked my friends
yang berasal dari Sabah dan Sarawak
saya kata and tanya..

"kat Sabah dan Sarawak.. kalau kita bukak TV
ada ke Rancangan Berita or Hiburan Dari Semenanjung?"

dia kata, apa yang orang semenangjung dapat and tonton
itu la juga yang kami tengok dan ngadap...

and dia sendiri pun pelik, bila dia kat Sabah..
bila tengok TV.. ada rancangan khas
bertajuk seperti yang saya sebutkan tersebut...

huh?

:)

i rest my case..
terima kasih kerana menonton..

Dear Foreign Correspondent,

I agree on so many fronts but disagree with you on one major point.

Let's look at the points that you have presented.

1. Infotainmen to inforia - very supportive. I crinched when infotainmen was first announced. Even if they can rationalize info with infomasi but tainment - what the heck would that be?

2. Kurangkan filem2 asing - Totally behind this point as well. We do have to nurture local production. Point must be made however to pin point what is asing and what is not.

3. Which brings me to the other point - Kenapalah hang nak pick on Hindi movies - as it is the Punjabi's have little to watch (and only kadang2 untung).
As for me foreign movie is anything coming from outside Malaysia. I would agree on curtailing its import provided that local production houses are willing to compensate with local productions.

Malaysia consist of many races - while Bahasa Malaysia / Melayu is still the national language there are people who still cant talk a word of our national language. For their sake at least - they need infotainment.

4. Sabah & Sarawak - for once and for all , we need to look at them as Malaysians. Why do we have to separate them from Semenanjung? They too need infotainment.

Just my dua sen worth.

mat,

sorry about the Hindis film thing
heheh... don't get me wrong though
i do not like them, but sometimes
too many for one weekend

i bought a copy in dvd
those very good films
i.e. kabhi kushi, kuch hota hey

and plus, i prefer Tamil movie
that Hindi.. reasons?

the storyline more towrds everyday situation rather than daydreaming scenes..

i wish today's Hindi movies
like those yesteryears
where poor-separated siblings
met at last.. one as polis, the other as pencuri kind of films..

katak and mat... i grew up with hindi movies. and i tell ya... even during SPM days, 2 weeks before the big exam, i would still squeeze myself to get the best spot at the small tv room back at the girls' hostel. amir khan and anil kapoor were the stars then. came uni days, i went all googoo-gaagaa over shah rukh khan and anjali. but that was it. after that... the interest became saturated. why? cos it's all nothing but emotional rides. yeah... and i got sick of it. so did some of my couch potato buds.

having said that... i agree with u, froggie. it's too much and it's all about daydreaming.
